OPERATION GRAND SLAM "THE CINEMATIC SOUND ORCHESTRA"

The year is 1968, San Francisco. The typical ups and downs of steep streets that are far too wide. One wooden electricity pylon after another to the left and right. Lieutenant Frank Bullitt is driving his dark green Ford Mustang Fastback on the heels of a black Dodge Charger R/T. In it are the killers who have been set on him. David against Goliath. Bullitt shifts up a gear 16 times without shifting down once. Apart from the sound of the engine, the squeal of tires and the clatter of countless lost hubcaps, we hear nothing for 10 minutes...or maybe we do? In the distance, and some 50 years later, the long-lost soundtrack reappears. In the form of a collective that never existed before. The closer we get, the louder the music becomes. Hamburg. 12 people (or 9 men and 3 women) stand on stage with their instruments and take the audience on their journey in a wild, energetic rhapsody of funk, jazz and rock. Their mission: to bring the music of the 60s and 70s into the present day (or present). Their name: Operation Grand Slam. Lalo Schifrin and Quincy Jones send their regards. Enno Morricone and Herbie Hancock drop by. And marvel at what the Cosmic Sovereign (aka Sebastian Hoffmann, bass trombone) has arranged and composed. Together with Commander Assistant Christin Neddens, drummer and coleader of the band, he gathers some of the finest musicians in town (credits include Jan Delay, Fettes Brot, NDR Bigband, Studio Braun, ...).

Since their premiere tour in winter 2016, the band has been wowing audiences at various festivals (including Open Jazz Festival 2016, Elbjazz Festival 2017, Summerjazz 2018, feelJazz 2019) and in countless clubs.

The whole spectacle will soon be available on CD and vinyl. Buckle up!
