Oud dates Cuatro: MIND THE GAP!
Staged intercultural concert
How do we listen to each other and how do we argue with each other?
In a time full of polycrises, the staged intercultural concert MIND THE GAP! uses music to explore how we can encounter the supposed "other", facilitate dialog and endure uncertainty.
Connected by their string instruments, which come from very different cultural backgrounds, Susana Schnell on the cuatro meets Adonis Fatra on the oud. They search for musical connections, complement each other with their individual playing styles and develop compositions that oscillate between oriental, Latin American and European influences. Microtonal scales from Syrian music combine with Latin American rhythms and create their own musical space of the in-between.
Through live music, soundscapes and performance, the empowering nature of the dialog can be experienced and challenges can be faced.
