The Italian Cultural Institute Cologne presents the second edition of In Sala. Cineclub italiano with a monthly screening moderated by Eugenio Riversi on the theme From Book to Film.

The next edition of Cineclub In sala will present four very intense stories in the fall. Based on novels and real events, screenwriters and directors explore the underlying emotions in difficult social contexts such as: the increasingly difficult living conditions in a deserted Rome, the love of two young men in a still traditional Sicilian society full of prejudices, the violent methods of the Ilva company in Taranto towards the workers who demand their rights, a nostalgic rapture for the Rione Sanità in Napoli as their own place of origin.

The four program titles use the language of film to depict themes and events from literary origins and offer captivating insights into the links between the two artistic genres.

The screenings will take place in the theater hall of the IIC Cologne. Before the movie there will be a short introduction in Italian. Afterwards there will be a small drink in the foyer of the institute.

Attendance is free of charge.

The historian Eugenio Riversi has been working at the Institute for Historical Studies at the University of Bonn since 2011. Since 2013, he has also been involved in the programming and presentation of the "Italian Film Series" at the Institute of Romance Studies there. He has been working at the Kinemathek Bonn since 2018.
