In "Parthenope", one of the most beautiful cities in the world is given a no less exciting face: in Naples, the eponymous heroine draws countless men into her spell with her charisma and often drives them crazy. But with melancholy ease, the young anthropologist Parthenope (new discovery Celeste Dalla Porta) devotes herself above all to the philosophical questions of existence: what does knowledge mean, how worthwhile is love, how does transience affect us? On her journey from life-hungry bohemian to respected scientist, Parthenope has romantic, grotesque and always inspiring encounters - while remaining independent. The dreamlike places and people reflect all facets of Naples. The result is a colorful panopticon of longing, desire, loneliness and deep ruptures.
