PÄTER & MACCORMAC & PALILA

In the organizer's words:

PÄTER & MACCORMAC

PÄTER (Alt Pop/ Rock Drama, Toronto, Canada)
MACCORMAC (Pop/ Rock, Hanover, Germany)
PALILA (Pop/ Indie/ Rock, Hamburg)

"Somewhere between Muse and Hilary Duff." This is the response of Iranian-born, Toronto-raised Parmida Kakavand - the brains behind Päter - when asked to describe her blend of alt-rock, singer-songwriter and pop. The irreverence you might take from her answer is at the forefront of much of her music, from 2020's viral hit "Dam, Damn" (which has racked up over 2.5 million streams online) to 2024's "Nicotine Hallelujah", a folky indie-rock anthem that recounts her first cigarette experience.

With her debut LP "4-7 Company" from 2024, co-produced with Howard Redekopp (Tegan & Sara, Mother Mother), Päter explores the darker side of her carefree personality, delving into darker soundscapes and raw, vulnerable lyricism. The album earned the artist much praise and positive feedback from broadcasters such as CBC, Exclaim! and Obscure Sound. In 2024, Päter was featured on festival stages at CMW, Cityfolk Ottawa and POP Montreal. With her versatile sound and award-winning performances, there's every indication that Päter is an artist on the rise. There's no telling what we'll hear next, but this Canadian artist has caught our attention.

MACCORMAC
Finn MacCormac writes his songs the way he speaks: openly, honestly and sometimes a little too much. Having grown up as a bassist on the stages of the North Hessian metropolitan region, he has also been playing his own songs since 2017. Initially with just a guitar and loop station, now together with guitarist Vincent Heller and drummer Dejan Hauch. Together, they roam the country's small stores in search of those who have moved away, the last conversations of a long evening, the feeling of being in love and always themselves.

PALILA
Palila should no longer be unknown to connoisseurs of local indie rock (and if they are: catch up as soon as possible!). The trio from Hamburg has made a name for itself over the past six years as a powerful songwriting unit that is simply furious live, drawing on the best moments of 90s indie rock and carrying these values into the present. With two EPs and two longplayers to date, tours through Germany and Austria and appearances at the Orange Blossom Special and Rolling Stone Beach, among others, Paiila have continuously expanded their loyal fanbase and crafted their very own sound from their influences - including Built to Spill, Pixies, early Smashing Pumpkins and Nada Surf: always melodic, often aggressively crunchy, always driving and infectious. Their third album "Children Will Be Furious" will be released on April 4, an emotional, sonically adventurous journey that begins in hopeful optimism and ends in contemplation of the little things in everyday life. After the single "Pure", released last November as a small appetizer, in which their penchant for creaky stoner rock could be heard very clearly for the first time, the second pre-release single "Hollywood, Save the Day" will now be released on 14 February, a powerful, melodically brilliantly charged mid-tempo piece that perfectly demonstrates the stylistic range of this band. It is one of the more moderate pieces on Pallas' otherwise most rocking album to date, combining emotional depths and rousing walls of sound - and demonstrating a fine sense of balance between chaos and calm.
