Slow Club Freiburg + Row Zero Talent Agency present:
PATRIARCHY + SARIN
PATRIARCHY
The LA-based dak pop/industrial/metal/dance band consisting of the two versatile artists Actually Huizenga and Andrew Means, is known for their wild and daring shows that combine elements of sex, humor and theater.
The music bridges camp and glam, industrial culture and horror cinema, drawing inspiration from the world's various ancient and modern mythologies.
From infectious electronic dance to crushing industrial metal and experimental noise.
The band's lead performer, Actually, is a fixture in LA's nightlife, rock, film and art scenes. She has collaborated with art institutions such as Night Gallery and the infamous strip club Cheetah's in Hollywood. Channeling her retro 80's aesthetic through her blend of dance and pop music, she's somewhere between a Lynchian David Bowie and a DIY Lady Gaga.
She doesn't shy away from subverting our age-old social boundaries and delivering over-the-top productions, as well as basking in the dark and sinister - where desire, fear and longing inevitably intertwine.
The name Patriarchy may seem like an unusual choice for a musical project fronted by a charismatic woman*, but it's a name that subverts the meaning of the term, taking it up and commenting on it in personal, lived experience.
"One part Bebe Buell and Nancy Spungen, with a generous helping of Bruce Dickinson in the aesthetic - all in all, a grotesque amalgam of all the sexual energy of punk, goth and heavy metal."

SARIN
is an audio/video and electronic music performance project based in Berlin and originally from Toronto, Canada. He has over a dozen 12" releases on various international record labels such as Aufnahme + Wiedergabe, BITE, as well as on his own platform X-
IMG. His current collaborative projects consist of General Dynamics (with Qual), Human Performance Lab (with Matt Cangiano), Devikorps (with Huren/Teste).
Destructive percussion and cold synthesizers paired with laser-focused sampling and media manipulation form the basis of his signature syncopated and mind-altering sound.
His background in audio/video art, developed during his studies in Toronto and through his work with the "Videodrome" group of artists, seeks a modern application of Gysin and Burroughs' cut-up technique
and is still applied in equal parts to his sonic work.
