Indeed: 50 years after the release of "Horses", Patti Smith is coming back to Germany in summer 2025 with her current band, the quartet, for a major open air and tent festival tour: the Patti Smith Quartet will play nine concerts (or simply "jobs", as the worker's daughter likes to call her shows) in Germany in July 2025.

After her spectacular, celebrated, "glorious" (SZ) and almost completely sold-out record tour in 2022 with over 40,000 fans and a wonderful tour of smaller halls and intimate venues in the fall of 2023, another big slide - who would have dared to dream that?

Hardly any other artist is able to light up the big stages with her immense presence as perfectly as Patti Smith. "If you go on stage, you have to put yourself on risk", Leonard Cohen once said, and there is hardly an artist who embodies this demand as perfectly as Patti Smith: her concerts are unique performances, without a net or a double bottom, completely in the here and now and one with her fans.

The audience can experience a further step in the artist's transformation from a punk icon to a wise, yet still wild, sometimes explicitly angry, combative shaman in the face of the circumstances. At the age of 78, the "punk emeritus" (Frank Junghänel) is one of the great icons of rock music, but also of literature.

In the 2025 festival summer, Patti Smith will grace the circus tent stage at ZMF Freiburg.
