One of the best things about this concert series is that Paul Heller repeatedly celebrates the human voice as a fascinating, independent instrument. To this end, he invites great singers with a wide variety of temperaments, vocal ranges and expressions, so it was almost overdue for this versatile vocal artist with possibly the largest repertoire of styles and sounds to finally perform: Fola Dada.
In 2022, she was honored with the German Jazz Award in the "Vocal National" category, which only partially captures the immense spectrum of her artistic work. Fola Dada is a professor of jazz singing in Mannheim, runs her own singing school, sings jazz and soul, meanders through house, pop, musical, reggae and loves the Afrobeat of Nigeria, her father's homeland. She is the front woman of Hattler, a swinging regular with the SWR Big Band and has found her very own personal and musical form of expression with her album "Earth", which brings all of this together. She remains authentic in every second when she sings her thoughts on the subject of "Earth": warm, deep, full, as impulsive as she is empathetic.
Paul Heller, Martin Sasse, Martin Gjakonovski and Joost van Schaik will weave the carpet of sound on which Fola Dada will fly. Above all, however, she will be carried by her very special art of empathizing with songs, subjects, styles and people.
