Berlin Calling: Paul Kalkbrenner plays an exclusive Berlin show at the Waldbühne in September 2024!

After arguably Germany's biggest techno artist played a sold-out show at Berlin's Wuhlheide in July 2023, Paul Kalkbrenner is now coming to Berlin's Waldbühne in September 2024!

Growing up in the golden era of techno, Kalkbrenner is synonymous with dance music. He was twelve years old when the Berlin Wall came down and spent his teenage years raving before he started DJing and collecting records. Later, Kalkbrenner focused more on producing and playing his own music live. Although he became popular at the height of the Berlin era of techno and his early career was very closely linked to the Berlin record label Bpitch Control, his fan base always remained loyal to him. By the time he starred in the groundbreaking film "Berlin Calling" (2008), whose soundtrack broke records across Europe, he had already released several albums such as "Superimpose" (2001), "Zeit" (2001) and "Self" (2004).

With a catalog that now includes more albums, over 137 individual tracks and numerous remixes, Paul Kalkbrenner has broken through the traditional boundaries of electronic music and has headlined the biggest festival and arena stages. Among other things, he played at Tomorrowland in 2018 and 2022 and was also invited by the German government to perform in front of 400,000 people to mark the 25th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall.

In 2015, Kalkbrenner signed with Columbia Records and was the first artist to gain unfettered access to the Sony Legacy Vault, which allowed him to use previously unsampled icons such as Luther Vandross and Jefferson Airplane on his album "7" (2015).

Subsequently, as an independent musician again, Paul released eight LPs, registered 3 No.1 overall records and entered the Top 10 overall charts of 10 countries, while selling 1.5 million units. Kalkbrenner has experimented with other formats in his latest projects, releasing a series of singles such as "No Goodbye" (2019), "Parachute" (2020) and "Si Soy Fuego" (2021). His breakthrough single "Sky & Sand" (2013) also continues to hold the German single record for most weeks at No. 1 (121 weeks).

Despite the major releases and mainstage appearances, Paul Kalkbrenner's career remains true to techno. He is a figurehead and pioneer of the electronic music scene, an uncompromising artist who has survived despite the short-lived trends in dance music.
