Lia Andes guides us through the musical genres of a singer with her hand puppet Paula. From swing and soul to classical opera and musicals. An interplay of sketches, music and improvisation in a heartfelt exchange with the audience.
Sensitively accompanied by Uwe Matschke on the piano, the uninhibited, impulsive Paula performs with Lia.

A funny, informative, musically and emotionally diverse program for young and old.

The all-round artist composed her own songs as a child and accompanied herself on guitar or piano.
Having grown up in London, she moved to Berlin at the age of 18, where she studied classical & jazz singing and performed as a jazz singer. The well-known composer & guitarist Rudy Stevenson (Duke Ellington Orchestra, Nina Simone) discovered her, took her into his band and produced several albums with her. Lia also founded her own band and won the Jazz and Blues Award in Berlin in 2002 with her "Lia Andes Quartet".
This was followed by engagements in musicals, e.g. "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" in Berlin and "Mozart" in Vienna. Lia managed the balancing act of bringing her skills in the field of classical music to the stage and performed in recitals, operettas and oratorios, e.g. she sang Mozart's "Requiem" in Rome.
Inspired and inspired, Lia increasingly wrote her own songs and programs with which she performed, for example, at the Philharmonie Berlin and the Admiralspalast Berlin. In 2015 & 2019 she released two singer-songwriter albums: "Sie lebt", "Hier und jetzt" (Bluespirit Records).
In 2024/2025 Lia Andes was on tour with the children's musical ANOUK by Hendrikje Balsmeyer and Peter Maffay. There she played the roles of Grandma and Affi (a hand puppet). At the same time, she came up with the idea for the fictional character PAULiA.

She met Uwe Matschke during a production at the "Bar jeder Vernunft" in Berlin and he is the perfect pianist at her side in "PAULiA": After completing his music studies at the MHS "Hanns Eisler" in Berlin, he played in various show bands and accompanies solo artists from chanson to jazz. He has been an enthusiastic member of various improv theaters for many years and is always open to new collaborations.
