Many songs have been written about the United States - all with the aim of capturing this multifaceted country. But few artists succeed in interweaving their own lives with American reality as authentically as Petey does on his new album "USA". Born in Royal Oak, Michigan and raised in Chicago, the singer/songwriter immersed himself in the Midwest emo music scene there at an early age: In his high school and college years, he played drums in the band "Young Jesus". The TV series "OC California" awakened his desire to move to California and work there as an artist at an early age. He fulfilled this dream in 2013, but initially had to work several minimum wage jobs to keep his head above water. At the same time, he began writing his first songs and gradually learned to play guitar, bass, drums and synthesizer, all of which he now plays on his albums himself. With his first song ideas, he contacted the Terrible Records label by direct message and signed his first record deal shortly afterwards. But as soon as the first songs were released, the Covid-19 pandemic disrupted his plans. He used the time during the pandemic to discover TikTok for himself and began performing humorous and absurd sketches in which he himself often plays several roles. His special brand of humor quickly caught on and he quickly gained over a million followers. Many came for his funny videos and stayed for the emotional music. After several successful singles, including a duet with indie rock singer Miya Folick, he released his debut album "Lean Into Life" in 2022. Critics praised the album for its honest, autobiographical lyrics and unique alt-rock sound. Petey himself describes the album as the "story of a typical American man in his mid-30s". The American theme continues to run through his songs on his second album "USA" from September 2023. With warm-hearted honesty and quirky humor, Petey talks about everyday American topics such as fears and images of masculinity. After the end of the Corona restrictions, Petey was finally able to play live and prove his special stage presence, whether at double shows with Medium Build or as support for Blink-182. His concerts are characterized by the close connection with his audience - characterized by the shared joy of tackling even serious topics with humor.
