Spring is finally here - we are happy about the sunshine, the warmth on our skin and, above all, the sprouting nature! And on Saturday, April 19 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., we invite you to a plant and seed swap at the foodsharing café! Would you like to propagate your jungle at home in a resource-saving way and share babies from your current houseplants? Or is your tomato crop going through the roof and you don't know where to put your seedlings?
Did you know that the majority of plants available in DIY stores, furniture stores, supermarkets etc. are anything but sustainable? Many plants, including cut flowers, are grown in greenhouses under conditions that are not really climate-friendly and have long transportation routes behind them. They are often also treated with pesticides before they end up in our homes (more on this here, for example: https://bit.ly/3d2XWTx). Swapping plants is therefore definitely the more appreciative solution, it's really fun and you can also exchange ideas about care and cultivation together!
How does it work? Bring a maximum of 10 cuttings, houseplants, vegetable seedlings or seed bags in all their variations - preferably in soil/water in a jar or cachepot so that they can be transported as dirt-free as possible. We don't swap 1:1, but are convinced that everyone will treat what is there with solidarity and share fairly :)
We look forward to your visit!
