"Battle of the Arts" is not just the name of Germany's largest poetry slam organizer. It could also be the general motto under which the Duisburg Philharmonic opens the arena for this season's Philharmonic Slam - already the fourth edition of this extraordinary series and proof of its popularity with Duisburg audiences. Five young poets, all stars of the slam scene, will enter the ring and compete in an exciting and entertaining contest. Their weapons: language, facial expressions, gestures - and a microphone so that the audience, who will choose the winning entry at the end, can take in the evening's unleashed word acrobatics. In addition to the language performed, the music also comes into play. In anticipation of the 150th anniversary of the orchestra in 2027, the Duisburg Philharmonic Orchestra has selected works from all eras of its existence, to which the slammers will respond with their contributions. This year's Philharmonic Slam is supported by the state of North Rhine-Westphalia as part of the "Musik-Achsen-Zeiten" project as part of the "Neue Wege" funding program.
