Philipp Hermann's pieces are storytelling in musical form; like a projector, they create films in front of the listener's inner eye. They tell of encounters and places, of moments and ideas, allow memories and dreams to rise up again from dull depths into consciousness or invite you to let your thoughts drift.

"Music is a language and pieces of music are its stories - both bring people together. My music should contribute to this cohesion. Because when people experience it together, a shared reality is created for a moment."

At the crossroads of neoclassical, jazz and ambient lies the space in which Philipp Hermann's music lives. Chilly Gonzales, Yann Tiersen, Hania Rani and Ólafur Arnalds are just some of the names that have left their mark here.

The piano takes center stage, complemented by a constantly growing sound palette of new sounds and influences - always in search of music that stays in your head and ears long after the last note has faded away. The trained jazz pianist now also composes music for the big and small screen, which recently earned him the award for "Best Original Score" at the Canadian Cinematography Awards.

On his latest single, the Münster-based musician collaborates with the Estonian duo Ruut. The filigree "Väljad Karja Käia", accompanied only by Estonian zither, has been reworked to combine undulating piano patterns and cinematic soundscapes with the original vocals, allowing the song to appear in a completely new light.
