After tracing the stories and music of the New Orleans era in their last program, this time the Phon B Quartet and narrator Michael Speer turn their attention to the swing era and its protagonists.

This time, too, there are bizarre and interesting stories to be heard. And the timeless music of the 1930s is reinterpreted and brought into the present by the four established Baden-Württemberg musicians.

Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Artie Shaw or Woody Hermann and all their wonderful musicians tell their stories: with words and sounds.

Pioneers - also in overcoming racial segregation. Black and white together on stage at last, united by music. - But then separated again in separate worlds, in different hotels.

They talk about the hard life on tour and the anecdotes that inevitably arise when a colorful bunch of musician-individuals are on the road 365 days a year. All accompanied by the Duke's life maxim: It don't mean a thing, if it ain't got that Swing!
