Oldenburg, August 10, 2025 - Picknickkonzerte Oldenburg is delighted to announce a special highlight for all hip-hop fans: Curse and Afrob, two greats of German rap, will be performing at Utkiek Park in Oldenburg on August 10, 2025. Admission is at 18:00, the concerts start at 19:00. Tickets are available online at www.ticketticker.de from Friday, March 21, 2025, at 12:00 noon.

Curse, real name Michael Sebastian Kurth, born on September 6, 1978 in Minden, is one of the most profound and versatile MCs in German hip-hop. He began writing lyrics in English at an early age and performed in youth centers with his band Phat Kills before discovering German rap. In 1999, he released his first EP 99 Essenz before his groundbreaking debut album Feuerwasser (2000) appeared. Songs such as Wahre Liebe and Sonnenwende shaped an era and made him one of the strongest lyrical voices in German-language rap.

With Von Innen Nach Außen (2001), he presented an introspective, melancholy work that Juice named the best German rap album of the year. In the following years, Curse proved his versatility: whether on "Das Gegenmittel" with Kool Savas, the reggae-inspired collaboration with Gentleman (Widerstand) or deep storytelling tracks - Curse masters the entire spectrum of hip-hop. After successful albums such as Sinnflut (2005) and Freiheit (2008), he initially retired from the music business, became a systemic coach and made an impressive return in 2014 with Uns. His latest work, Unzerstörbarer Sommer, was released on September 6, 2024 and once again shows him to be one of the country's most lyrically profound artists.

Afrob, whose real name is Robert Zemichiel, was the shooting star of the German hip-hop scene in 1999. With his first release Reimemonster, a collaboration with Ferris MC, he immediately landed a hit that became the rap anthem of the year. But Afrob was no stranger to the scene before that: As early as 1994, he made a name for himself with live performances and features alongside Massive Töne, MC Rene, David P. (Main Concept) and Blumentopf.

In 1999, he released his debut album Rolle mit Hip-Hop, which finally established him as a permanent fixture in German rap. He went on to play almost 150 concerts at festivals such as the Hip Hop Open Stuttgart or as support for Die Fantastischen Vier on their "4:99" tour. His second album Made in Germany (2001) produced more hits and included features with Gentleman, Wasi and Ferris MC again.

Alongside his solo career, Afrob regularly collaborated with Samy Deluxe - the result was the joint project ASD, which celebrated great success in 2003 with the album Wer hätte das gedacht? Further solo albums such as Hammer (2005), Push (2014) and Mutterschiff (2016) followed in the years that followed. In addition to music, Afrob also worked as an actor and appeared in the film Leroy (2007), among others.

An evening full of authentic German rap and rousing beats awaits visitors to Utkiek Park on August 10, 2025.
