Slow Club Freiburg presents:
Pierre Omer's Swing Revue
(CH/ Voodoo Rhythm Rec.)
The music of the swing era of the 30's and 40's, combined with a garagey spirit and an eye for everything else make for a special concert experience.
Pierre Omer and his band catapult you straight into a ballroom full of misfits and hoodlums.
You can hear plugged trumpet and Django Reinhardt gipsy jazz guitar, blues-like songwriting again and again, with the drummer providing excellent swing grooves with his broom.
The band is at home somewhere between coffee house and cellar kasher, rooftop garret and dance-crazy retro summer festival at the harbor and has an extraordinary charm.
Pierre Omer was born in London to an Indian father and a Swiss mother.
He is a founding member of the legendary Swiss funeral rock'n'roll band The Dead Brothers.
In 2009 he started several solo projects together with Robert Butler (The Shit, The Miracle Workers), Roland Bucher and Christian Aregger (Blind Butcher).
In 2013 the Swing Revue was born: Pierre Omer: vocals, guitar, Julien Israelian: drums, Christoph Gantert: vocals, trumpet and new addition Géraldine Schenkel: Fender Rhodes.
After their debut "Swing Cremona" (2016), the band toured extensively throughout Europe and played at festivals such as Binic Folk Blues, Montreux Jazz, Buskers Bern, Les Athénéennes, Pod'Ring, Cirque Electrique Paris and others.
The 2023 album "Tropical Breakdown" was recorded in London's Space Echo East studio by Alex McGowan (Martina Topley Bird, Urban Voodoo Machine, Jah Wobble), as well as in the band's own rehearsal room. It was mixed at the Big Snuff studio of Nene Baratto (King Khan, Movie Star Junkies, Black Lips, Jimi Tenor) and Monney B (Hell's Kitchen, Los Gatillos) at home in Geneva.
The album is characterized by Pierre's strong songwriting, the lazy, relaxed, dark vocals and his daring guitar playing in combination with Julien's powerful, casually playful beat, Christoph's devilishly obsessive trumpet playing and the iconic Fender Rhodes, which Géraldine sometimes chases over wah wah pedals.
