The poor carpenter Geppetto carves a puppet out of pine wood with which he wants to perform at the fair. The result is Pinocchio, who talks, walks and immediately throws himself into the middle of life. Out of love for Geppetto, Pinocchio sets off for school because he wants to be "a real child". On the way, however, he gets lost in the puppet theater, wins a treasure and meets a fox and a cat. Will the shady duo really be able to magically multiply Pinocchio's gold? Pinocchio's curiosity drives him further and further away from home, as he ignores all the warnings of the cricket and the blue fairy, who will not leave his side. Come and join Pinocchio on his journey, where he plays to his heart's content, makes new friends, lies (if he has to) and finally ends up in the belly of a big fish. Will he ever see Geppetto again?

Carlo Collodi's "Pinocchio" celebrates being a child in all its facets. Written over 140 years ago in Italy, the novel is one of the most famous works of European children's literature. "Pinocchio" is an adventure story and a coming-of-age novel that tells of love, disobedience, freedom, courage and the freedom of being different.

Director Frank Panhans, who is known in Düsseldorf for works such as "Auf Klassenfahrt oder Der große Sprung" and "Mr. Handicap", returns to the D'haus with Collodi's classic. He is staging "Pinocchio" with a seven-person ensemble that brings Collodi's fantastic story to life.
