Pioneers of Hip Hop Jam – Cora E., Die P., Toni-L and many more

On October 17, which is celebrated as "Intangible Cultural Heritage Day", the international hip hop scene meets in Heidelberg and remembers the origins of the culture. Historically, hip hop jams were the nucleus of a scene that exchanged ideas and networked; a tradition that was kept alive in Heidelberg for decades by the legendary "360 Grad" jams.

As part of the Hip Hop Culture Days, the focus on this day will be on the pioneers and trailblazers. The event will be presented as the "Pioneers of Hip Hop Jam" in cooperation with the event series of the same name from Cologne. In addition to a shaking dance floor with beats and breaks and a stage with top-class rap art, the audience can expect a historic moment: the presentation of the "Pioneers of Hip Hop" award, hosted by initiator "Maestro Rick Ski" and breaking luminary "Jazzy Jes" from Switzerland. This award recognizes hip hoppers and supporters of the culture for their outstanding pioneering achievements.

"DJ Friction" (Stuttgart), a legend on the turntable, will get the audience in the mood for an unforgettable event full of hip hop history with his warm-up set. On stage, local rap and dance acts will show just how talented and diverse the Heidelberg scene is, while the Luxembourg duo "Corbi & DJ PC" will deliver international flair. As a regional pioneer group, "Knightz of Bass" from Mannheim will set the sparks flying with their live electro funk. "Die P" from Bonn are guaranteed to get the audience boiling with their energy, "Toni-L" will get the train rolling and German rap pioneer "Cora E" will ensure an unforgettable evening full of classics. "Akanni Humphrey & Outta State" (four MCs around Akanni from the Bronx in New York) demonstrate in an authentic showcase what rap sounded like in the early days - improvised rhymes, routines and call-and-response over live-mixed breakbeats, just like back then in the Bronx. DJ MoeRockz (Mannheim) and DJ Marc Hype (Berlin) will provide the right sound for dance enthusiasts and breaking crews from near and far.

As a special highlight, a historical boombox exhibition will show why these devices are considered an essential technical tool and symbol of hip hop culture.

The grand finale of the Hip Hop Culture Days takes place on October 18: The "Haus der Jugend" will hold the "Back 2 The Roots" dance battle in the afternoon, graffiti writers will meet at Messplatz in Kirchheim for a jam and in the evening, Hip Hop Heidelberg e.V. will present the final concert of the Kulturtage in the hall of the "Alter Karlstorbahnhof": "No Cap" with Chefket, Aisha Vibes and Alyzah live on stage and Figub Brazlevic on the turntables. A limited number of discounted combination tickets are available for the "Pioneers of Hip Hop Jam" and "No Cap".
