Poetica 10 - »Poetic Thinking and Hospitality« - Auftaktveranstaltung mit den Autor:innen der Poetica

When Jacques Derrida declares that "an act of hospitality can only be poetic", he is referring to poetry's unique ability to open up free spaces that unconditionally welcome the Other. Free spaces that hold space and do not immediately subject what enters to a fixed meaning. With its tenth edition, Poetica celebrates the hospitality of poetry itself and invites not only new authors to its "room for thought", but also poets and curators from past festivals, whose works reflect "Poetic Thinking and Hospitality" sometimes as a theme and sometimes as a form.
To kick off Poetica 10, the authors from Europe, Asia, Central and South Africa, North and South America will present their texts in short readings and invite poetic thinking in conversation with Uljana Wolf. The evening will be opened by a greeting from the Rector of the University of Cologne, Prof. Dr. Joybrato Mukherjee.

With Lina Atfah (Syria/Germany), Radna Fabias (Curaçao/Netherlands), Hiromi Itō (Japan), Lebogang Mashile (South Africa), Fiston Mwanza Mujila (Congo/Austria), Sergio Raimondi (Argentina), Claudia Rankine (USA), Sasha Marianna Salzmann (Germany), Sjón (Iceland) and the pianist Aki Takase as well as the former Poetica curators:Michael Krüger, Monika Rinck, Yoko Tawada and Jan Wagner.
