Potsdamer Orchesterwoche 2025 – Vier Konzerte, ein Klangereignis

The Potsdam Orchestra Week once again invites you to a rousing concert series in 2025! Under the musical direction of Matthias Salge and with dedicated musicians from all over Germany and beyond, the orchestra will present an exciting and colorful program.

The concert opens with the colorful "Scherzo fantastique" op. 25 by Josef Suk, a lively orchestral piece full of tonal surprises. The centerpiece of the evening will then be Giovanni Bottesini's Concerto for Double Bass and Orchestra No. 2 in B minor - a romantic virtuoso piece that demands everything from the soloist. This year's soloist is Hans-Christian Rautengarten, who makes this rarely performed work shine with technical brilliance and musical depth.

The concert concludes with Carl Nielsen's Symphony No. 1 in G minor op. 7, a work full of energy, independence and Nordic freshness - already a masterpiece in which the young Danish composer found his own sound.
