Mehdi Kerkouche (Créteil)
With more than 100 performances in France, Portrait is an essential piece in Mehdi Kerkouche's young career. A child of television, image and advertising who has worked with big names in pop music such as Christine and the Queens, he presents this dance virtuoso and touching family portrait for the first time in Germany.
At first, the audience sees a seemingly harmonious group, reminiscent of a black and white family photo. But the picture soon comes to life and reveals the complex reality of the characters. Behind the façade, everyone lives with the same insecurities, joys, sorrows and losses. How do you find your place in a group and free your true identity? Portrait shows how the body escapes from a narrow, defined framework to find a liberating power of expression. The nine dancers take turns to unfold their vibrant personalities - a surprising snapshot of today's family through a mosaic of temperaments and energies.
Recommended for ages 10 and up.
