Preisverleihung: Gerhard Trede-Preis für Arrangement und Komposition

Gerhard Trede (1913-1996) is one of the most versatile and most frequently performed composers from Hamburg. Once the in-house composer for the predecessor of Tagesschau, the UFA newsreel, his oeuvre of over 3000 works is still used today in various films, series and video games. Gerhard Trede wrote his compositions for symphony orchestras, big bands, jazz formations, brass bands, folk groups and electronic instruments. The Gerhard Trede Foundation is awarding the Gerhard Trede Prize for Arrangement and Composition for the second time to mark the foundation's 25th anniversary. From March to August, arrangers and composers were able to apply for the Gerhard Trede Prize. Six compositions were nominated in advance and will be performed by the HfMT Large Ensemble at the award ceremony. A jury will decide on the new prize winner on the same evening. Gerhard Trede Foundation The Gerhard Trede Foundation was established by the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg following the death of spouses Gerhard and Elsa Trede in 1999. The foundation manages the exploitation of the rights to Gerhard Trede's complete compositional oeuvre and primarily supports the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg.
