Constanze and Jens are a team, a couple, parents, and above all they are one thing: hard-working people. Between night drives in a cab and weekend shifts at the office, they just about keep their lives going, meeting for short meetings in Jens' cab and shuttling their son Luis back and forth. Until one day a phone call from school upsets their routine: Luis is being bullied. The reason is his beloved unicorn rucksack. The principal advises the parents to buy a new one, but Luis is not prepared to exchange it. The situation escalates and the cab turns into a kind of boxing ring, a microcosm in which the parents battle out elementary questions: should their son conform or assert himself, even if this means that Luis remains the focus of attention? Constanze and Jens both want to do their son justice, but can only resort to quick fixes instead of really being there for him. The pressure of earning money and having to work is too great, the time they can take for each other is too short...

This powerful family drama, based on the play "El pequeño poni" by Paco Bezerra, tells the story of a couple struggling with the challenges of modern family life. Max Riemelt and Natalia Rudziewicz shine in the leading roles as a permanently stressed couple juggling between career and family life. When their ten-year-old son Luis is bullied at school because of his purple unicorn rucksack, the parents find themselves in a conflict over social norms and the protection of their child. Lucia Chiarla stages most of the action in the cramped space of a cab, which becomes a conflict zone for the parents, vividly and with subtle humor.
