At night, society glitters in the party lights, and Violetta Valéry is right in the middle of it all. She is surrounded by male gazes: Some are only interested in her glittering appearance; others love her with all their skin and hair like Alfredo Germont; still others are worried about their own reputation like Alfredo's father. Just when the young couple have found happiness in unvarnished honesty, he demands their separation. Director Tom Goossens turns the tables and lets Violetta herself decide who is watching whom and who is the focus of attention. A game between disenchantment, recognition and acknowledgement begins with radiant ensemble voices and under the musical direction of Verdi specialist Leo McFall.
