Premiere: Tanz: Großes Haus: Become Ocean: Hessisches Staatsballett Choreografie von LEE\VAKULYA

"Become Ocean" is a joint commission with the National Theater and Concert Hall in Taipei, Taiwan.

The Hessian State Orchestra Wiesbaden will perform.

The wide, undulating waves of the ocean symbolize change and continuity. Inspired by John Luther Adams' composition "Become Ocean" (Pulitzer Prize 2014), LEE\VAKULYA evoke the unstoppable movement of the tides. Their piece reflects on the climate crisis and nature's fragile balance between life and destruction. Dance and music alternate equally between harmony and dissonance. The Taiwanese-Hungarian duo Chen-Wei Lee and Zoltán Vakulya are among the up-and-coming voices in contemporary dance. Their German premiere of "Burnt [the eternal long now]" was performed at the Tanzfestival Rhein-Main in 2023.
