Pretty Lightning

Since their formation over a decade ago, Germany's Pretty Lightning have now released their sixth album. They have toured the UK and Europe several times and shared the stage with artists such as Moon Duo, Clinic, Kikagaku Moyo, Kadavar and Night Beats to name but a few. The duo can tick off a long list of influences - from 60s psych and delta blues to experimental rock and drone - and the end product is a pulsating blues-psychedelic gloop that collides with the collaborative vibe of some of their krautrock forebears. Indeed, as often as their sound is filled to the brim with crunch, swagger and feedback, Pretty Lightning are also capable of throttling back on the oft-abused gas pedal and delving into something far more hypnotic and drone-like. Roasted guitars meld with hazy soundscapes, playing edgy and repetitive melodies along with gritty, pounding drums and gooey loops of keys and bells. With the release of their 2022 album "Dust Moves", Pretty Lightning began to break new ground, as it is the band's first fully instrumental album, offering meandering desert blues, stretched-out psych-rock and hypnotic drones in widescreen format
