WO/MEN tells the story of six Burrneshas who, for different reasons, have decided to take on the social role of men. They have done so to circumvent patriarchal structures, to escape misogynistic attacks, to support the family economically, to avoid a forced marriage and to be free. Our protagonists share their lives and their personal journeys with us. They talk about freedom and oppression and how they break gender barriers by deciding how they want to live and that they want to live. WO/MEN turns stereotypes and common gender debates on their head and shows that life as a woman is still considered less valuable, worldwide.
