At first glance, everything seems to be going well for the lawyer Tessa Ensler. The story of a rise: with fewer privileges than her fellow students, she makes the leap first to an elite university and then to a top law firm. Tessa Ensler is a successful and tough criminal defense lawyer. Today, she defends men accused of sexual assault, among others. Her method of asking questions shines and strengthens her reputation. She also believes in the legal system, which rules in favor of the accused when in doubt.

Then something terrible happens. Her faith in the justice system and her convictions are shaken and she suddenly finds herself in a new role.

Australian author Suzie Miller is herself a criminal defense lawyer in the human rights sector and now writes for theater, film and television. With PRIMA FACIE, she has created a much-performed and multi-award-winning monologue against the backdrop of the MeToo movement.
