Prima Kunst: Ana Kostova - Contours of memory

The exhibition "Contours of Memory" is a spatial, painterly installation in which personal memories, cultural traditions and sacred geometric forms are interwoven. Organic lines and rhythmic repetitions appear between sculptural structures, recalling the ritual gestures of Bulgarian folk culture - symbols of protection, healing and renewal. The works in the exhibition do not represent concrete ritual objects, but reflect their energy and symbolic power, filtered through Ana Kostova's visual intuition. In her compositions, the memory of rituals associated with health, fertility and closeness to nature is palpable - movements that create a sense of sacred cyclicality and inner transformation. Kostova does not create a narrative space, but a place of contemplation that invites the viewer to rethink their perception of time, place and spirituality. Her geometric compositions create a symbolic landscape imbued with color, rhythm and these cultural codes, through which the artist explores the connection between her personal history and collective memory, completely reinterpreting traditional signs as a universal visual language.
Ana Kostova (born 1995 in Plovdiv, Bulgaria) lives and works in Hamburg. In 2023 she completed her Master's degree in Fine Arts at the Muthesius Academy of Fine Arts Kiel in the class of Antje Majewski. Prior to this, she studied painting at the National Academy of Fine Arts in Sofia, Bulgaria.
