PROVISORIUM

Vicky and Yulieth, two young women, know nothing but rebel life. They first have to learn to live on their own without weapons. The left-wing FARC rebels have been fighting against right-wing paramilitaries and state troops in Colombia for over fifty years, leaving 220,000 dead. A peace treaty is signed in 2016, for which the country's president is awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. The FARC lay down their weapons and hoped to be reintegrated into civil society. However, the government fails to keep its promises, the paramilitaries grow stronger and the state offers no protection, not even in the temporary shelters for the former fighters. How can peace be achieved? The two women initially try their luck in the anonymity of the big city, but this only seems to be a permanent option for one of them; the other is drawn back to the countryside.

Markus Lenz accompanies them for five years on their rocky road to a civilian life. He succeeds in telling two moving life stories that are shaped by major social and political upheavals.
