Over the summer, we renovated and remodeled the Eldorado once again. As a result, Frankfurt's oldest cinema now finally has a long-awaited cooling system. We want to celebrate the reopening with the eternal Tarantino cult film PULP FICTION and a small theme party to mark the 30th anniversary. We'll provide cool drinks; Burgerbude Frankfurt will deliver delicious burgers.

When Pulp Fiction was released in 1994, critics and audiences celebrated Quentin Tarantino's brilliant homage to Hollywood gangster cinema. The seven-time Oscar-nominated film won the Palme d'Or, a Golden Globe, the Oscar for "Best Original Screenplay" and is now one of the 100 best films of all time. With sophisticated dialog, the ironic and witty use of violence and a grandiose iconic soundtrack, Quentin Tarantino managed to redefine 20th century cinema. Quentin Tarantino's second film, named after the American "hard-boiled" crime novels printed on cheap paper, won the Palme d'Or in Cannes in 1994 and the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay in 1995 and went down in film history as a masterpiece of postmodernism. PULP FICTION proves Tarantino to be a connoisseur of US trivial cultural history and someone who knows how to continue the tradition of murder-and-death stories from the 1930s to the 1950s with the means of the 1990s, without having to act like a cheap Jacob of quotation. The film brings together stars such as Harvey Keitel, Tim Roth, Uma Thurman, Bruce Willis and - in a sensational comeback - John Travolta in a leaden and blackly humorous story from the underworld, populated by underprivileged professional killers, thieving amateurs and bribe-taking prizefighters.
