The Dutch violinist Janine Jansen is one of the most celebrated artists on her instrument, touching and inspiring audiences worldwide with her passionate music-making and stupendous technique. Now the virtuoso and likeable star violinist can finally be experienced for the first time at the Musikfestspiele. She will be joined by the Camerata Salzburg as her musical partner - a collaboration that both feel is a unique stroke of luck. Jansen's interpretation of Mendelssohn's famous Violin Concerto in E minor, whose melodically flowing opening Jansen describes as "pure beauty", is also likely to be inspired by this spirit. With the "Reformation Symphony", written to mark the 300th anniversary of the "Augsburg Confession of Faith", the Camerata Salzburg then dedicates itself to another of the composer's milestones. The program is rounded off with the Ricercar a 6 by Bach, the Baroque grand master whose rediscovery was championed by none other than Mendelssohn.
