In Freddie's musical footsteps
Probably the youngest Queen tribute band is on tour
When young people decide to form a band, they usually cover songs. The Doctors, Metallica, Nirvana or maybe even AC/DC are on the program and rehearsals take place in a friend's basement or garage. And of course they also play gigs, for example in the youth center around the corner or on the street at the weekend.
Basically, it's the same with the "Queen Teens", a supra-regional youth band project from the south of Bavaria - but not quite.
Because, as the name suggests, five young musicians have pledged themselves to one of the greats: Freddie Mercury and his band QUEEN. And under professional management, they form what is probably the youngest Queen tribute band of all time.
What's happening in September 2020 together with Luca, who surprised the jury and audience alike in the blind auditions on the TV casting show "The Voice Kids" with the song "Bohemian Rhapsody", is now entering yet another new generation.
Over the years, the band has undergone several line-up changes when members have had to leave for school or professional reasons. Sound engineer and coach Fabian Schäfer has been presenting three new musicians since January of this year, and with 13-year-old Dominik Hübner as the new singer, the band also has another remarkable voice. The blonde Freddie actor was not only also on The Voice Kids, but has also performed on stage with Roland Kaiser and is celebrated on the internet with his own song "Tell me!".
"Singing Freddie's songs and letting them live on is both a challenge and an honor for me," says Dominik - and he does it convincingly well. But the new drummer Louis and keyboardist Daniel, both just 12 years old, also bring new energy to the band and, together with bassist Roman and guitarist and founding member Simon, inspire at a musically high level, coupled with the charm of a teenage band.
