In Mexico City in the 1940s, Lee (Daniel Craig) wanders through the city's clubs after fleeing a drug raid in New Orleans. Here he meets drug addict Allerton (Drew Starkey), a discharged American marine, among the American foreign students and oddball bar owners. Lee soon finds himself under the young man's spell and becomes obsessed with his new acquaintance.
