queer schreiben, queer gelesen - Seminar mit Gunther Geltinger

In the organizer's words:

When we talk about queer literature, we primarily mean books and literary texts that deal with non-heterosexual lifestyles and relationships. But queer literature means much more than that: those who write queer literature consciously choose a literary form that opposes the dominant representation of gender, sexuality and identity - in society, but also in canonized literature. On the other hand, a text that bears the label "queer" is not per se one that breaks through norms and conventions, including literary ones, and uses its linguistic and narrative means boldly and unconventionally.
In this workshop, we want to read selected text excerpts by established authors and examine their queer aesthetics in a joint discussion and work out the individual means and methods that will help you to further shape your own writing projects and make them courageous and idiosyncratic, unconventional and resistant.

Registration with prose text sample (short story, narrative, novel excerpt, literary essay, max. 5000 characters incl. spaces).

Gunther Geltinger is a writer. In his multi-award-winning novels (most recently "Benzin", 2019), he repeatedly deals with questions of queerness.
