Paula Steiner is coming to the Kulturzentrum Lagerhaus at the invitation of the [virt.] Literaturhaus Bremen as part of queer.lit!
Paula Steiner studied screenwriting at the Film University Babelsberg and lives in Berlin with her dog Kalle. She received a scholarship for the authors' workshop at the LCB Berlin and studied at the Literaturinstitut Hildesheim and at the Angewandte Sprachkunst in Vienna. She has published in magazines and anthologies. Die Welt hat blaue Haare is her first novel.
About the book: Two worlds collide: the middle-class barbecue on the terrace of a semi-detached house in Schweinfurt and the unconventional love fest on the back of a truck in a foreign, distant country. In one world, Luisa goes to school and dreams of Dunja, even though she is with Benno. In the other, Luisa writes herself into the vortex of a story. In it, Dunja is the world, wears a white linen suit and has blue hair. Both embark on a journey that leads Luisa to her sexuality and to herself. As the two girls get closer to each other in reality, more and more circumstances from Dunja's life find their way into the story and Luisa's urge to tell her story becomes more and more violent. Until her story finally claims victims in the real world. A social satire about Instagram feminism and the queer search for identity.
