Tomasz Jedrowski in Bremen!
For a two-day writing workshop aimed at young people up to the age of 25, Tomasz Jedrowski is coming to the Weserburg in June 2025 at the invitation of the [virt.] Literaturhaus Bremen as part of queer.lit!
Using various writing exercises, we will explore what 'queer' means and can mean, transforming our experiences, feelings and ideas into texts.
No previous knowledge is required, just a desire to write!
The two-day writing workshop will take place in the Weserburg library (and in the exhibition rooms).
With time and peace to write, there is also the opportunity to be inspired by the place itself - right up to the works in the collection exhibition Just as we are, from Murat Önen's "Moving Pile under the Blue Sky" (2022) to Zoe Leonard's queer political manifesto: "I want a president" (1992).
Tomasz Jedrowski grew up in Bremen as the child of Polish parents and studied law in Cambridge and Paris. His debut novel Im Wasser sind Wir Schwerelos (in the original: Swimming in the Dark) is a queer love story set in the times of Polish communism, which was named one of the books of the year by the Guardian and American NPR and selected by Dua Lipa for her book club. The novel has been translated into nineteen languages and is currently being adapted for the stage. Tomasz Jedrowski lives in France and is working on his second novel.
Free admission!
