Anyone who follows the contemporary German music scene has - whether consciously or unconsciously - most likely heard music penned by Ralph Heidel. Ralph Heidel is not only a sought-after composer, arranger, producer, sound researcher and multi-instrumentalist. He is also the only musician to have worked with artists such as Apsilon, Bazzazian, Casper, Jungstötter, Tristan Brusch and Lisa Morgenstern, as well as for the Berliner Ensemble and the Nationaltheater Mannheim, while also writing commissioned classical compositions. All this as a German-born solo artist operating miles away from the mainstream, he has been played on BBC Radio 6 and favorably reviewed in Mojo magazine. His music always moves at the interface between organic and electronic sound and genre worlds; between neoclassical string quartets, bedroom pop, nujazz, chamber music and futuristic beats; also between intimate piano themes, cosmic synths, layered saxophone runs and hummed vocal pads.

His current, third album anyways.onto better things is probably his most intimate, personal work. For his live performances, he reduces himself to the minimum and manages to create emotional, unique soundscapes with piano, synthesizers and his versatile saxophone sounds.
