Anyone who follows the contemporary German music scene has - whether consciously or unconsciously - most likely heard music penned by Ralph Heidel. Ralph Heidel is not only a sought-after composer, arranger, producer, sound researcher and multi-instrumentalist. He is also the only musician to have worked with artists such as Apsilon, Bazza-zian, Casper, Jungstötter, Tristan Brusch and Lisa Morgenstern, as well as for the Berliner Ensemble and the Nationaltheater Mannheim, while also writing commissioned classical compositions. All this as a German-born solo artist operating miles away from the mainstream, he has been played on BBC Radio 6 and favorably reviewed in Mojo magazine. His music always moves at the interface between organic and electronic sound and genre worlds; between neoclassical string quartets, bedroom pop, nujazz, chamber music and futuristic beats; also between intimate piano themes, cosmic synths, layered saxophone runs and hummed vocal pads.
