Randfilmfest

In the organizer's words:

The Randfilmfest is returning to Kassel: from September 25 to 28, 2025, films that understand cinema as a border crossing, disruption and poetic risk will light up. Between the venues BALI-Kinos, KiezKino im Film-Shop and KUBATUR, a program will unfold that is not aimed at pleasing, but at friction: forgotten film gems, highly controversial works, aesthetic provocations.
Whether censored genre films, radical short formats or debuts from the underground - the program sees cinema as a place of irritation, counter-speech and emancipation. Discussions and panels accompany the screenings in order to keep the dialog between audience and filmmakers alive.
One programmatic focus is on the infamous Video Nasties - films that were once banned in the UK and West Germany and are now regarded as subversive classics of horror and exploitation cinema. In addition, a retrospective is dedicated to the pioneer Roberta Findlay, whose cinematic oeuvre oscillates between feminist provocation and exploitation aesthetics.
