RASHID, L’ENFANT DE SINJAR

In the organizer's words:

Belgium, France 2025 - Director: Jasna Krajinovic - Original language: Kurdish - Subtitles: English - Length: 80 min.

As a child, Rashid survived being abducted and indoctrinated by the IS. While his younger sister remains in custody, he and his family are able to return to Sinjar in northern Iraq. But the region remains unstable and hatred against the Yazidis flares up again. While his everyday life is characterized by uncertainty, he dreams of a better future. Should he stay or go? Wait for his sister to return? On the threshold of adulthood, Rashid searches for his place in a world that gives him few opportunities. His fate is representative of an entire generation of war children - their dreams and hardships. A moving documentary about resilience and the question of what home means. Helga-Mari Steininger

Note: This film deals with war and violence against children.
