Ray Wilson & Band
-GENESIS CLASSIC-
performed by former frontman Ray Wilson
RAY WILSON, the former singer of GENESIS, presents the greatest hits of the band's history and his solo career.
The year 2018 marks not only the 50th anniversary of the birth of GENESIS as one of the best and most successful rock bands of all time, but also the 50th birthday of RAY WILSON, one of the UK's greatest singers. Ray and his band will perform songs ranging from the early GENESIS years to the band's latest recordings and his own songs from his solo career. Ray's concerts are known for including solo hits by PETER GABRIEL, PHIL COLLINS and MIKE RUTHERFORD alongside classics from the world of GENESIS. His unique career as a solo artist and as frontman of the No. 1 hit bands STILTSKIN and GENESIS promise an unforgettable and entertaining evening.
Multifaceted song structures from the band's progressive rock era as well as pop hits from the 1970s to 1990s merge into the most diverse arrangements - a new dimension of GENESIS, without the songs losing their original character. This is guaranteed by the unique voice of RAY WILSON, whose last GENESIS album "CALLING ALL STATIONS" was the fourth best-selling album in the band's history.
20 years after the release of "CALLING ALL STATIONS", RAY WILSON and his band will present the best tracks from it. His repertoire naturally includes
of course all the hits such as "CONGO", "NOT ABOUT US", "SHIPWRECKED" and also popular live songs such as "THE DIVIDING LINE", which stands out due to the huge drum solo and the gigantic duel between the lead guitars. Of course, this also includes the title track "CALLING ALL STA-TIONS", which is performed alongside other GENESIS classics such as "NO SON OF MINE", "CARPET CRAWLERS", "MAMA", "LAND OF CONFUSION", "SOLSBURY HILL", "ANOTHER DAY IN PARADISE" and his own songs from his solo career.
"CALLING ALL STATIONS" was the last studio album by one of the best and most successful rock bands of all time. As a result, GENESIS was inducted into the famous "Rock'n'Roll Hall of Fame" as an important and influential band and sold a total of over 150 million records worldwide.
2016 was a very special year for RAY WILSON and his band. Two new solo albums were released - including the acoustic "SONG FOR A FRIEND" and the electric "MAKES ME THINK OF HOME".
RAY WILSON, who has been named one of Britain's top singers by Classic Rock magazine, is known for his strong stage presence and inspiring performances. His show promises a unique concert experience for anyone who appreciates good live music.
RAY WILSON's international music career began in 1994 with the grunge sensation STILTSKIN, when he stormed the charts with the number 1 hit "INSIDE". The song ran for years as a worldwide TV commercial for the jeans company "Levi's". In 1997, the Scotsman became a member of British rock legends GENESIS, where he replaced Phil Collins as singer. The jointly produced GENESIS album "CALLING ALL STATIONS" was followed by a successful stadium tour throughout Europe and North America.
After GENESIS disbanded, RAY WILSON played in Germany with music greats such as Marius Müller-Westernhagen and the Turntablerocker. He performed on stage with the Scorpions and the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra at the opening concert of the EXPO World Exhibition in Hanover.
In 2003, RAY WILSON released his first solo album "CHANGE" and presented it during his tour - with over 50 shows in Germany alone - together with Joe Jackson and the band SAGA. For the song "YET ANOTHER DAY" from the same album, he collaborated with the Dutch star DJ Armin Van Buuren; the song easily reached number 1 in the dance charts. In the following years, RAY WILSON went on a European tour with Dolores O'Riordan from the CRANBERRIES and SUPERTRAMP frontman Roger Hodgson.
RAY WILSON is regarded as a likeable, exceptional singer and has made a name for himself worldwide as an excellent entertainer with his cha-rismatic stage presence. With typical Scottish composure, he combines the energy of rock music with complex song lyrics.
