The blouse

Aunt Dorchen (Irm Hermann) wants to buy a blouse. Not really a big deal. That's what her nephew (Hendrik Röder), who accompanies her on this project, thought. Possibly a mistake.

Because the blouse to be purchased is intended to provoke one thing above all: Mrs. Bender has to be the envy of the place. So the bar is set high and this project takes years, not hours. In the end, a field of rubble remains: a hatpin is stuck in the eye of a young lady, an electrical engineer eats light bulbs, around 22 sales clerks lie dead on the floor... Worst of all: Mrs. Bender can no longer get her fill of envy, a peritonitis got the better of her.

Expensive Swallows

Gunda (Irm Hermann) is in a nursing home. But she is actually always on the move: because she can "run like hell" - but she can't reach "Tantine", Aunt Tine. The traumatic experiences from her childhood during the war catch up with her. And many other memories. The events of the past fly through her head like swallows. Suddenly Gunda starts to paint: a magnificent magpie. Together with her, Gunda regularly attempts to escape from the home. The swallows in her head make the present big, funny, poetic and comforting. And this also has an effect on Gunda's daughter, who visits her regularly.

Expensive Swallows was named Radio Play of the Month by the German Academy of Performing Arts in November 2019. In its statement, the jury wrote: "The mischievous escapades and macabre events about escaping from home and climbing over fences are followed with admiration, showing that dementia can open up an almost admirable fantasy space."
