In this workshop, you’ll create several portraits that blend abstraction and figuration,
life-sketching, introspective and from a picture of your choice, the focus will be to
interpret them emotionally and conceptually. Guided by artist and facilitator Juancar,
you’ll explore unconventional ways to depict identity and perception through color,
form, and composition.
Through experimental exercises and guided practice, you’ll gain tools to break away
from traditional representation and develop a more expressive visual language. This
experience will encourage you to approach your painting practice in a joyful and
personal way.
What we focus on:
Gain a deeper understanding of both technical and conceptual aspects of painting.
Learn multiple approaches to creating portraits beyond traditional representation.
Improve your confidence and inspiration to continue exploring creative expression.
Materials:
Provided: Acrylic paint and basic painting set up.
Bring a picture to use as an inspiration for your own painting (self-portrait, another person, or a group image), your own set of brushes for acrylic, and a painting apron.

This workshop is open to all levels. Juancar will give you individual feedback. The more experience you have, the easier it will be to experiment with new approaches. If you’re curious about pushing your artistic boundaries, this is a guided and inspiring space to do so.

Acrylic paint, paper and basic painting set up are provided. Please bring a picture printed to use as an inspiration for your own painting (self-portrait, another person, or a group image), your own set of brushes for acrylic, and a painting apron.
