Release Event: The Damage Done – the case for climate reparations from Germany to Cameroon

In the organizer's words:
Germany's colonial past isn't history-it's still shaping the present. While Cameroon faces devastating social and environmental as a result of colonial violence and exploitation, Germany continue to profit. Yet, reparations to redress past injustices and compensation for the damage done is missing in Germany's conversation about climate justice. It's time to change that.
Join us for the launch of "The Damage Done - the case for climate reparations from Germany to Cameroon" on April 24, 2025, from 19:00 to 20:45 at Aquarium, Skalitzer Str. 6, 10999 Berlin.
Together with international environmental and decolonial justice activists and experts Fatim Selina Diaby, Victorine Che Thoener, Lina Adil, Oumarou Mfochivé, and moderator Tonny Nowshin, we'll discuss the racialized injustices of climate change, the legacies of German colonialism, and the importance of climate reparations to deliver true justice.
The evening will start with a presentation of our publication, followed by a panel discussion and space for open exchange-plus Cameroonian snacks and non-alcoholic drinks. No prior knowledge is needed, just a commitment to justice.
