Remembr-House: Haus der Erinnerung

In the organizer's words:

How would we feel if we suddenly had to do without our belongings? To our HOME, the mirror of our inner world, and to our THINGS, the guardians of memories, happiness and suffering?

The travelling exhibition REMEMBR HOUSE, organized by the MEIS - National Jewish Museum in our twin city Ferrara (Italy) is coming to Giessen.

REMEMBR HOUSE is a walk-in house made of sustainable materials with different rooms with objects, QR codes and information boards. Based on the history of Jews in Piedmont and Liguria (Italy), it addresses the right to have a house/home and the trauma that arises when this is violated. The house is transformed into an extraordinary instrument for approaching the history of the Shoah. The exhibition shows lost symbolic objects that inspire reflection on the present and human rights.
