RENN.arena WEST: Gesellschaft der Empörten? Demokratischer Zusammenhalt in Zeiten der Polarisierung

We are discussing what divides our society and how cohesion can be strengthened - on April 1, 2025 in Dortmund at the first of four regional conferences of RENN e.V. (Regional Networking Centers for Sustainability Strategies). Join the discussion and contribute your perspective!

That's what it's all about:

Society is under tension. The dynamics between the public, politics, civil society and science on conflicting goals of transformation are intensifying regionally, nationally and globally. This concerns, among other things, distribution conflicts, questions of migration, recognition policy and how we deal with our ecological basis. Both social and economic inequalities play a central role here and have a significant impact on public discourse.

But what triggers the conflicts and how does outrage turn into consensus? To what extent does populism play a role as a terrain for conflict and how is the perception of social divisions influenced? We will discuss these and other questions at RENN.arena WEST. The focus will be on the causes of division in society, ways to resolve tensions and ways to strengthen cohesion and resilience.
