Rett Smith from Nashville will release his highly anticipated album A Weighted Remorse on September 13, 2024 via Imperial Republic Records. A Weighted Remorse is the fifth self-penned album in Smith's discography since the pandemic in 2020, following the successful releases of Giving Up on Quitting (2020), What the Walls Cannot See(2021), AmericanaDrugs (2022) and A Nightly Consequence (2023). Smith's signature virtuosic guitar talent, already showcased in his work with SAENTS, makes a triumphant return, complementing the dynamic restraint of his solo work. His deeply personal storytelling style, once described by the Austin Chronicle as "a dark and brooding record that sounds like Nick Cave growing up with Texas songwriters," remains at the forefront of his music. The accolades for Smith's music continue to pile up. Billboard praises that "[he] indulges his penchant for high-octane guitar riffs and works through his own need for lyrical inspiration in the spirit of Texas' most iconic songwriters."
