To imagine Sisyphus as a happy man must itself be regarded as absurd in view of his unresolvable suffering. It might be worth reflecting on the extent to which the absurd has a place in our lives and what its realization - initiated by Albert Camus - brings about...

Jürgen Kippenhan studied philosophy and social sciences in Bochum, Bonn and Aachen. Doctorate in Aachen on the possibility of artificial intelligence. Initially a university assistant in Aachen, then a guest lecturer at a Brazilian university, now a lecturer at the Institute of Philosophy at RWTH Aachen University. Founded LOGOI in 2009. In 2024, Nomos published his treatise "Artificial Intelligence and the Structures of Meaning in Human Action"

The photographs and texts by Michael Dohle and Werner Seltier offer an in-depth look at the central themes of Albert Camus: the absurd, revolt and solidarity. Camus is a long-time companion for both artists, whose thinking they read and discuss again and again - especially the question of how the absurdity of life and its acceptance become the starting point of his thinking. For them, Camus is also a passionate defender of art as a constant revolt: "The absurd world can only be justified aesthetically", he wrote in 1942.

The pictures and texts in this exhibition enter into a dialog with Camus' philosophy and take a new look at his thoughts on solidarity, which he continued to develop under the extreme conditions of the German occupation in France and defended against prevailing currents. The exhibition invites visitors to experience these important themes not only in the text, but also in art and the world around us.
